Aiden Sharpe Procurement Manager

Upon completion of my BTEC National Diploma in Construction in 2008, my introductory role to the construction industry began on the £600m “Staythorpe Powerstation” new build in Newark, where I spent 2 years as a site engineer’s assistant and gained a great insight to the overall industry and civil engineering on a large scale. Thereafter, I worked for local Civil Engineering contractors where I spent several years on site alongside the groundworks gangs on various projects, further gaining experience and knowledge to help with my progression. Over this time, I worked closely with senior management to assist with valuations, material ordering, site paperwork and day to day activities on site. As a day release student, I completed my HND in Construction Project Management within this time also.

Having gained the level on site experience early on in my career, it’s helped massively in my role today to understand each projects operational needs on a daily basis and the importance of delivering schemes on site by supporting staff company wide with plant, materials and daily operations within the business.

Alan Partridge Commercial Director

After completing his studies at Chesterfield College started as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor for Abbey Civil Engineering. After completing a HNC in Civil Engineering part time Alan saw several promotions within his 9years with Abbey ultimately to Senior Quantity Surveyor. Alan ran a small team of surveyors and was responsible for the all commercial reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Alan has also worked for Main Contractor Buckingham Group Contracting where he was responsible for the commercial success of a number of high profile projects including:

Siverstone Racing Circuit  – Track Alterations £14m over 18weeks

Rooley Lane, Bradford – Bulk Earthworks and new Infrastructure £14m

Airkix, Trafford Centre – New Indoor Sky Diving Centre £2m 

Alan Looks after the Commercial aspect of the Business and is now into his 24th Year within the industry

Dean Padley Contracts Manager

I have over 20 years’ experience within the construction industry starting as a groundworker. I started off on sites as a general labourer, progressing and upskilling myself into a multi skilled Groundworker who could turn my hand to any task that was asked of me. I then developed in to a ganger, but my desire and passion for my profession drove me on to the next step, which was to become a Site Manager. I managed & ran sites for three years but continued on an upward trajectory. Following my successful period as a Site Manager I was further elevated to the role of Contracts Manager, where I continue to this day with some 4+ years’ experience in the role.

My industry experience has provided me with a wealth of knowledge regarding civil engineering works and has helped me build a robust network of contacts within the construction industry.

Leigh Bradbury Managing Director

I left school in 1998 at the age of 16 and went straight into the Civil Engineering Industry. I started out working for Abbey Civil Engineering where I worked my way through the company from site level to managing projects then eventually working closely with the owners of Abbey in closing the business down. My career at Abbey finished in 2010 at which point I worked for a couple of local companies in a Site Manager role and during this time had thoughts & aspirations of setting up our own Groundworks company alongside two of my ex Abbey colleagues (Alan & Wayne).  Those aspirations came to fruition in June 2012 when we registered ATB Civil Engineering Limited and we started our first project in August of 2012.

Since 2012 my knowledge, experiences & personal progression within the industry have increased tenfold as well as focusing a lot more on the Health & Safety side of Construction and the responsibility that my role demands. To date I have over 25 years of experience within the construction industry on all manner of projects within numerous sectors of the industry, which in turn gives me a wide range of experience, knowledge and expertise.

Pete Chapman Senior Estimator

I went into the construction industry virtually straight from school where I worked for R.B. Allfree for a little over 10 years. Here I started of in the Procurement Department and eventually progressed to Estimator.

I then moved on and started working for Erewash Construction in an Estimating capacity. Erewash were a large company of the time and during my time served I was involved in producing tenders for many large civil engineering projects.

During the latter stages of my career with Erewash, I decided to form my own Groundworks & Civil Engineering Company alongside a friend & colleague of mine from Erewash.

In 1997 I was Managing Director of Abbey Civil Engineering Limited who operated out of Chesterfield. Myself & my business partner grew Abbey into a highly successful, medium to large sized company between 1997 to 2011.

A decision was made to close the business in 2009 so we gradually wound the business down, completed all contracted work, paid up all our suppliers & employees and closed the gates on a fantastic adventure in which I learned an awful lot, both positive and negative, about the industry.

Following the closure of Abbey, I took some time out but very soon had the urge to ‘get back in the saddle’. I started working as Senior Estimator for ATB Civil Engineering in 2013 and bring with me a wealth of knowledge & experience which has aided the company in its own trajectory and growth.
